Meet Steve Hale.
Electrical engineering leadership.

I am Steve Hale, a Chartered Engineer with BEng, MSc and MIET credentials. I spent 30 years with BOC / Linde, progressing through engineering and leadership roles before establishing EPower Systems in 2025.

As Associate Director Electrical Engineering for Linde Global Operations (2023–2025), I led electrical safety, predictive technologies and operational support across 83 countries. Previously, as Head of Electrical Engineering for BOC UK & Ireland (2015–2023), I led electrical engineers supporting safety, reliability and projects in the industrial gases business.

My earlier career includes electrical engineering at International Paper (1993–1995) and apprenticeship, maintenance and project roles at Chesterfield Cylinders Ltd (1982–1993).

We work with you to establish the available information, agree the technical scope and define useful deliverables. Findings are presented with their assumptions and limitations so they can support informed decisions.

Through EPower Systems, I bring that leadership experience to electrical consultancy, combining system analysis and design with an understanding of asset management, operational challenges and incident investigation.

My specialist areas include HV and LV systems, rotating machinery, transformer management, refurbishment and repair, power network analysis and HV switchgear operation and management.

Technical advice for critical decisions.

I also provide support in electrical crisis management, health and safety management and investigation, and failure analysis with recommendations. My approach is to understand the technical issue, assess the available evidence and communicate clear, practical advice.

Whether the requirement is an ETAP power systems study, an electrical design review or advice on an operational problem, the work begins with a defined scope and a clear understanding of the decisions it needs to support.
